My Educational Philosophy
Nowadays, we are living different times and how our students are taught is very different from how they were taught 30 years ago. Education has been significantly transformed by the Internet. Now we have technology everywhere and most of our students are very technical. In recent years, we have been able to see this big change; on how we as educators have been teaching our students’. We have been bombed by the world of technology. Computers, iphones, etc. there is new software in which our students relied on; but now they can even improve the way they learn a second language. There are programs posted in the internet on how to learn a second language. The rise of online communication has affected the way students are taught and academic research is conducted, as well as its use in school administration and other education oriented functions.
So, I can say that the internet can be of much help when you have to give individualized help to other students. I believe that each child has their own pace at learning. This is why individualized teaching is good; Why? Because all of you’re attention will be focus only on this one child. But we have to be realistic as educators we know that it is hard to give each student individualized attention but it is possible. Most of the time we are just one in the classroom; it is rear the time that there are two teachers’. But given that now we have computer programs that are going to help us teach a second language it’s wonderful, for while you are working with one or two students you can have the others work on a program on a computer. I work with a company called Cosey and their philosophy is that the students need the individualized help.
Another issue is that we have to keep on convincing our students on how important it is to acquire a second language and even a third language. I have a friend that since she was very young she was interested in learning how to speak French. Nowadays she speaks Spanish, English and French so she acquired that third language that she so much wanted to learn. Her dream is to move to France and live there so eventually she will be able to complete this dream. So as a teacher I will always remind my students and family members how important it is to have a second language and even more if possible. Knowing more than one language gives us a great sense of knowlegde that will be of great value when it comes to a career.

It is very true that we as teachers must keep on transforming the education, being part of the changes.
ReplyDeleteYou're right: computers are an important teaching tool. However, we must make the right choice on which application and level of performance we choose to make it pertinent and applicable for their learning experience.
